If you notice, most of my website and blogs are in the third person. I do this because it allows me to peel away the subjective, and tentatively, leave only the objective. This one section is different. I am using the word “I” quite frequently (you’ll see in a few more sentences why), and have absolutely adopted the first person narrative.
When thinking about the name of my blog site I of course wanted something catchy, professional, but with some meaning. I came across a picture of a Mandelbrot.
I recalled the time in my life when learning and exploration of the unknown was exciting and new. I was very interested in math, and coincidently computers were still fairly new. I worked producing in BASIC on a TRS-80 IV, a Mandlebrot by plotting imaginary numbers (i) on the screen. I learned that no matter how deep you “zoomed” into the equation to get a more detail, the fractal Mandlebrot was always there. I was simply amazed that such a thing was possible…a repeating landscape of imaginary numbers. I have never forgotten that experience, nor the feeling of self accomplishment something I have, and always will strive for. Thank you Neil VanLuevan for encouraging a young mind to expand and stretch beyond his imagination. You will be missed.
I hope by now you see some of the play on words I have done. “Imagine IT” and using the first person (e.g. “I”) references imaginary numbers. “Understanding Chaos” references chaos theory, but can also refer to the complexity of IT.
I hope you enjoy my blog!
If you want to know more about Benoit Mandlebrot. He was a brilliant man!

Thank God he wasn’t a Yankees fan!
